A/PROF DAVID SHERRING, BDS(Syd),MBBS (Adel), D.Clin. Dent; FRACDS (OMS)

David commenced practice with Dr Anker in 2004. He completed his undergraduate degree in Dentistry (University of Sydney) in 1992 and immediately commenced full time service in the Australian Regular Army, seeing active service in Rwanda in 1994/95.

Subsequently he completed his Medical Degree(University of Adelaide) with a Clinical Doctorate in 2002.

He has remained in the Reserve forces following discharge.

Prior to obtaining his Specialist Surgical Fellowship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Dr. Sherring obtained a Clinical Doctorate (D. Clin. Dent) with his research thesis considering Maxillofacial Surgery Treatment of Obstructive Sleep Apnoea.

David holds Senior Medical Officer appointments at multiple Public Hospitals since 2005. He also operates from Kareena Private Hospital, St George Private Hospital and Kingsway Day Surgery.

David is the Associate Professor at Charles Sturt University and is involved in the teaching of undergraduate students at that institution. He also teaches surgical registrars in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at The Sutherland Hospital and St George Public Hospital.

Sydney South OMS is a busy, by-referral specialist practice where David sees patients requiring all general services provided by an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon. His area of interest is the management of facial injuries and growth anomalies involving the facial skeleton, particularly those causing issues with occlusion and/or obstructive sleep apnoea.

David undertakes dentoalveolar and dental implant surgery, including complex treatment involving grafting procedures to the jaws or sinus offering local or general anaesthetic as appropriate.

David has been examining trainees in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery since 2006 and is currently an examiner for the Part 2 Fellowship Examination. In addition he has recently completed a 2 year term on the Board of Studies, RACDS as a nominated ANZAOMS member.

David has been an active member of ANZAOMS Council since 2010 and was elected Vice President in 2015. He has been awarded the honour of the Presidency of ANZAOMS in 2017.

A/Prof Sherring works from our Miranda office and is available for appointments on the following days: Monday,  Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
