Dr Anker was born in Sydney and after High School attended the University of Sydney faculty of Dentistry, graduating in 1976.

He then served with the RAAF before resigning his full time commission after being accepted for specialist surgical training in the conjoint training program run by the University of Adelaide and the Royal Adelaide Hospital.

Dr Anker holds degrees from The University of Adelaide and a surgical fellowship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from the RACDS.

After training in Australia and overseas he began private practice and held public hospital appointments with The Illawarra Area Health Service and the South East Sydney Area Health Service for twenty years. He is married and has three children.

During his time in specialist practice he has served on a number of State and National committees involved in the running of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Australia as well as being a mentor and lecturer to trainee doctors preparing to sit for their final examinations.

He was appointed to the Court of Examiners RACDS in 2000.

As well as carrying out the full range of Dento-alveolar surgery including third molar (wisdom tooth) removal, he has considerable experience in the treatment of jaw and facial fractures and jaw pathology.

After further training overseas, his areas of particular interest are the surgical management of Jaw and Facial deformity (Orthognathic surgery) and Temporomandibular Joint surgery.

Dr Sherring commenced practice with Dr Anker in 2004. He completed degrees in Dentistry (University of Sydney) and Medicine (University of Adelaide). Prior to obtaining his Specialist Fellowship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (FRACDS(OMS)), Dr Sherring obtained a Clinical Doctorate (D. Clin. Dent) with his research thesis considering Maxillofacial Surgery treatment of Obstructive Sleep Apnoea.

Dr Sherring holds VMO appointments at multiple Public Hospitals and involved in teaching at the undergraduate and post-graduate level. He also operates from Kareena Private Hospital, St George Private Hospital and National Day Surgery (Kogarah).

Dr Sherring runs a busy, by-referral specialist practice. His particular interest is in the management of facial injuries and growth anomalies involving the facial skeleton, particularly those causing issues with occlusion and/or obstructive sleep apnoea.

Dentoalveolar surgery is the core of Dr Sherring’s practice with surgery offered under both local or general anaesthetic as appropriate. This includes surgery to remove teeth, soft tissue lesions of the oral and maxillofacial region, dental implants and grafting of hard and soft tissue to facilitate dental treatment.

Dr Sherring is an examiner of trainees in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery for the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons since 2006.

Dr Sherring is currently the NSW Councillor for ANZAOMS and an elected member of the RACDS OMS Board of Studies. He has previously served in both the regular and reserve Forces and treats both serving and DVA patients.

Greta, Lex, Leslie and Linda make up the Clinical Team, all have extensive experience in both private practice and the hospital theatre environment. They are professional, empathetic and offer the highest level of care to all patients. Medical Skills and Infection Control/Sterilisation skills are being constantly updated and are within Australian Standards. The Clinical Team work closely with Dr Anker and Dr Sherring to ensure all patient’s have a pleasant experience during their local anaesthetic procedure or at their post operative appointments.
