Why you may need a bone graft
• Insufficient bone volume for implant placement
• Implant needs to have approximately 2mm of circumferential bone around it to be stable in function over time
• Bone loss always occurs after a tooth extraction, generally the longer the time since the extraction the greater the amount of bone loss
• Bone grafting/augmentation may increase the width or height of bone available
• Bone is the best material for grafting – either particulate or block grafts
